A mere ten minute walk from Piazza Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizzi Gallery, Palazzo Castri’s discreet entrance belies an elegant interior and a fabulous garden at the back.
Originally the home of the Castri family, this is a period building that has been entirely renovated and decorated in distinct contemporary style, but for the odd original element such as the ceiling fresco in the reception area.
This new generation boutique hotel boasts its own spa and wellness center and an outdoor/indoor swimming pool, and caters to a discerning and elegant clientèle.
Complimentary tea is served between 4 and 5 pm but the garden comes truly alive in the evenings when multi-coloured water fountains punctuate the palm tree-fringed sitting and dining areas.
Another nice touch is the superb collection of coffee table books thoughtfully curated and displayed on shelves and high table in the lobby.
Parking problems are solved by leaving your car in the care of the hotel valet for a daily fee – this gives you the freedom to explore Italy’s most beautiful city and have access to your vehicle at a 30 minute notice.
The rooms are comfortable, with large twin beds and equally large bathrooms, with everything in pristine condition.
Palazzo Castri is highly recommended for atmosphere, location, splendid gardens, top range spa and cool chic.
