Art Russe is a unique foundation whose aim is to popularize 20th century Soviet art. The foundation is the brainchild of collector Andrey Filatov who is also vice president of FIDE (The World Chess Federation).
Art Russe launched an exhibition of more than 100 important works at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development.
The launch was attended by Abu Dhabi, Russian and Chinese dignitaries and a post-launch dinner hosted by Omar Al Askari, CEO of United Technical Services.
The art works, including sculptures by Vera Mukhina and Yevgeny Vuchetich; the still lifes of Alexander Gerasimov and Alexei Gritsai; the landscapes of Nickolai Andronov and Semeon Chuykov; the genre paintings of Nickolai Baskakov and Arkady Plastov; the portraits of Abram Arkhipov and Alexander Bubnov; and the architectural landscapes of Tahir Salahov and Vladimir Stozharov, as well as masterpieces by Nikolai Fechin, the Tkachev Brothers, Nikolai Roerich, and many others, can be seen until Dec 10 (10am-10pm).
