Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace is the premire concours event in the UK drawing some of the ultimate classic cars from around the globe. The 2023 event featured numerous Le Mans winners starting from the 1920’s to the 2003.
The line up included the most successful 1928 Bently 41/2 litre which was part of the four strong “clean sweep” in the 1929 Le Mans and included other winners including the1963 &1964 Ferrari 275P, 1931 Alfa 8C-2300 Zagato, 1974 Matra MS 670B, 2003 Bentley Speed 8, 1924 Bentley 3 Litre Sport, 1979 Rondeau M379B which is the only car to win the race bearing the name of the man who won, 1952 Mercedes-Benz W194, Porche 962’s,1968 Ford GT40 Gulf car which won LM twice among many other LM cars on exhibition.
Among all the LM cars are some of the automotive’s world great classics which this year included some of our favourites a 1937 Peugeot 302 DS Darl’mat, 1955 Maserati A6 GCS Frua Spider,1938 Delahaye 145 Coupe,1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental, 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 Monza, 1934 Bugatti Type 59, the special 1965 Fiat Abarth 1000 Record Pininfarina “Principessa” and of course a Ferrari GTO and a SWB California Spyder.
