This is the last B Beyond edition for 2014 and what a year it has been!…
We have travelled everywhere to bring you news of some great art events and interviewed many of the greatest collectors in the world.
We have talked to passionate philanthropists and amazing entrepreneurs. All of these conversations are memorable in their own special way, but perhaps none more so than the one with Norwegian Petter Stordalen who made our cover – not only because of his quirky personality, but also because of the genial photographer, Dag Knudsen, whose work we greatly admire.
The beautifully poised and intense Donatella Flick, Princess Missikoff, was a contender for the cover (as was photographer Annick Wolfers), but she is not keen on portrait pictures.
So was Ottaviano de Medici, the man who would save Florence from decay – as well as from being trivialised and over commercialised.
Ben Goldsmith, the ultimate “Green Entrepreneur”, would have been an easy choice too – had he had the time to pose for a more elaborate photoshoot. A man with a mission and one to watch, we hope to have him in the magazine again.
Jon Huntsman, the “quiet philanthropist” has given away more than most and made – and continues to make – a huge difference to the war on cancer, as well as to countless people’s lives.
Anita Choudhrie, a life-long art collector, opens a discreet door to her collection – and reminiscences about MF Husain.
We profile a number of leading Turkish collectors – in the context of the Istanbul Art Fair – and write about this magical city that has reinvented itself as a magnet to the beau monde in the past decade.
Fidan Bagirova for Artvera’s, a Swiss art gallery, has contributed an intriguing article about art forger extraordinaire Wolfgang Beltracchi.
We have, once again, showcased Christy Lee Rogers’s new works because we love her work so.
Having spent a proportion of the year in the South-West of France, a spot we have a great partiality to, we resume our BBEC (B Beyond Event Circle) by invitation only gatherings program, kicking off with a dinner in London and a 3-day event in Gstaad in February 2015.
