The Concours of Elegance, one of the UK’s premier concours events has again taken place 4-6 September with as usual an impressive lineup of collector cars.
This year the “Best in Show” award went surprisingly to a famous Le Mans winning Porsche 917 driven to victory in 1970 by Hans Hermann and Richard Attwood.

Accompanying the 917 Porsche at Henry VIII’s private garden were a number of other important race cars such as a Ferrari 250 LM, a Ferrari 365P, a Ferrari 250 GTO, a Ferrari 275 GTB Competizione, a Ford GT40 along with a number of early race cars such as a Mille Miglia winning Alfa Romeo 6C 1750.
Make no mistake, along with race cars there were a number of great classics of all marks. A few favourites included a 1938 Bugatti Type 57 Atlante Coupe by Gangloff, a 1930 Blower Bentley 4.5 L by Gurney Nutting, a 1939 Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 Mille Miglia, a 1904 Fiat Type 24/32, a special bodied 1957 Jaguar 150 S by Bertone, a 1955 HWM Jaguar, and a very particular propeller driven 1921 Leyat Helica.
In conjunction with the Concours were a number of car club displays which included Jensen, Ferrari, Alvis, Jaguar, Aston Martin to name a few along with a variety of luxury brands displaying their products including A. Lange & Sohne, a principal sponsor of the concours.
For the first time Gooding & Company hosted a sale of a number of important classics which set world record prices for a Bugatti Type 59, a Type 35C, a Type 57S Atlante and a Lamborghini Miura SV.
